Abstract/Summary

Hapag-asa Integrated Nutrition Program is a non-profit, non-governmental organization formed to resolve the problem of malnutrition. The organization believes that providing a 120-day nutritional program is enough to initiate a sustainable intervention to the beneficiary families. The program consist of three components namely 1) Supplemental Feeding, 2) Parent’s Education Classes and 3) Livelihood and skill Training.

In achieving the main goal of the organization, Hapag-asa has to communication all the three components of the program to its target audience, specifically to the parents of the beneficiary children, Hapag-asa, however, is heavily reliant in the participation of the parents of the beneficiary children; without whom, the integrated nutrition program will not be sustainable. Parents’ knowledge of the three components of the Hapag-asa Integrated Nutrition Program is vital because this will make the parents aware that there are classes that could help them solve the problem of malnutrition of their children.

Currently, Hapag-asa aims to communicate the three main components of the program through a forty – five (45) –minute orientation for the qualified beneficiaries. However, based from the audit, this current communication process of the organization was proven ineffective in communicating the main components of the program. Perceived as not engaging and incomprehensible by the stakeholders, the thesis group aims to address the problem through a revised orientation accompanied by an orientation kit.

The revised orientation includes a sixteen (16) –slide powerpoint presentation simplified lecture, six (6) –minute video, two (2) interactive games and a consultation with the parents. The orientation kit, on the other hand, includes a twenty –three (23) – paged procedural manual, all the necessary collaterals and paraphernalia for the revised orientation and a paper fan giveaway to be given to the parents after the orientation. All the collaterals proposed by the thesis group were made through consultation and collaboration with the organization and were subjected to their final evaluation.
