Abstract/Summary
Firefly magazine is an environment magazine for Filipino tweens. The pilot issue's main theme is biodiversity. A broad topic meant to introduce the tweens to the world of science and nature. The main objective of the magazine is to promote environmental awareness.
This issue consisted of feature stories, vivid drawings and illustrations, and photographs regarding the environment. It also included new discoveries and/or inventions that helped conserve the environment. Sections for fast facts and latest feast regarding the environment were also in the magazine.
The proponents authored all articles, and the information used was based on research through the help of environmental NGOs who willingly provided their resources. The proponents took some of the photographs, while the others were outsourced. The magazine is visual in approach and not text-heavy. It also contained engaging and intellectual activities, such as crossword puzzles, spot the difference, word hunt and the like, to be answered by the reader to test their knowledge on the environment.
