Abstract/Summary

Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance (FIND) is a non-government human rights organization that advocates to eradicate enforced disappearance and seeks justice for the desaparecidos (disappeared) and their families (FIND Families of Victims of Involuntary Disappearance, 2014). In 2012, the R.A. 10353 of the 2Anti-Enforced or Involuntary Disappearance Act of 20123 was passed as a law. Since then, it has been one of FIND’s advocacies to disseminate information about the law to its publics. In line with this, FIND came up with a primer as a means to communicate this message. However, according to Ms. Tizon (W.Tizon, personal communication, November 15, 2013), the primer was written for a general audience including FIND’s members. This resulted to a problem because the way the primer was constructed did not satisfy the needs of the members. To address this, a revised primer was created that is specifically targeted to the members. To address this, a revised primer was created that is specifically targeted to the members. It was written in Filipino, in a more conversational tone, with the legal jargons simplified, and with examples included. It was also supplemented with an event as an interactive mechanism immediately. In addition, an event manual was created for FIND to be able to consistently replicate the event.

All collaterals were made in close collaboration with the organization. The revised primer was written with the help of FIND's chairperson and lawyers.
