Abstract/Summary
Although Filipinos re known to place emphasis on good family ties, data from the Philippine National Statistics Office reveals that at least one in seven married women are victims of physical abuse at the hands of their husbands – and the number of reported cases continues to rise. The film 2Seeing Red3 explores the complicated dynamics of a family struggling for stability as it is torn apart by violence, and a young boy’s eventual loss of innocence. As the story enfolds, Joshua, a boy obsessed with becoming a superhero, learns that heroism does not necessarily mean the possession of superhuman powers, but the ability to show compassion towards others within one’s capacity.
