Abstract/Summary

According to the World Health Organization, cancer is a sickness that strikes millions of people around the world. Patient support groups are important in helping sick patients cope with the burden of the sickness. Hearts of Gold is a short video documentary featuring the livers if three volunteers caring for children diagnosed with varying types of cancer. The documentary shows the activities a volunteer engages in while spending time with the patients. The sincerity of their actions and their attachments to the patients are shown in the documentary. It also studies compassion as a motivating factor for volunteerism. Volunteers agree that the patients they are taking care of help them understand and appreciate life more. They find joy and inspiration in sharing their life with the cancer patients.
