Abstract/Summary

We cannot deny the fact that the role computers play in our lives today is of great importance. With computer technology growing rapidly, access to computers is opening up to an even larger segment of the population. And with more and more people becoming familiar and comfortable with computers, it is no wonder that the entire social systems based on and through computers have developed and spread throughout the world.

The Internet can best be described as a computer network made up of thousands of networks worldwide. It is a variety of millions of different types of computers communicating with each other through a common language or protocol. It is so great because it allows you to do numerous things right in front of your personal computer, one of which is practically talking to friends or relatives based on other parts of the world without the expense of long-distance or overseas charges.

There are lots of ways this form of communication can be done and one of these is in the form of the Multi User Dimension, Object Oriented (MOO) programming. It is basically a text-based environment where the users can interact with each other, like perform actions and not just talk, as with Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or other chat devices.
