Abstract/Summary

This study on gifted youth constructed a curriculum design that best suited their academic-related needs. In this case, the gifted referred to those students who are considered as academic achievers and belonged to offer a gifted program. Focus Group Discussions on gifted students and interviews with their teachers and a gifted specialist were conducted in order to extract needed information regarding four subject areas namely, English, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Results of data gathered revealed that many of the gifted students in high school have diverse needs, which have yet to be met. Given these needs, a general framework of the appropriate curriculum for the gifted was constructed. The researchers suggested that schools should incorporate enrichment programs, use of modern technology and the like in their curriculum in order to meet the neglected needs of the gifted.
