Abstract/Summary
This descriptive type of qualitative study is about the experiences that men go through that would lead them to commit marital infidelity. This paper would be tackling on men's different views towards the issue of marital infidelity-how, why, where and when it all starts. Marital infidelity is the act married men commit when they feel bored, alienated or not given importance to in their marriage. They seek for someone who would satisfy their immediate physical and sexual urges. It all starts with simple flirting until it leads to one-night sexual encounter. But these extra-marital activities just exist temporarily. Men do not intend to break up their existing marriage and be with the other woman. Face-to-face interviews were conducted on 9 Filipino married males who experienced marital infidelity at a point in their marriage. The data was content-analyzed thoroughly until researchers were able to come up with a clearer view on what goes on in an extra-marital relationship. Despite of the notion that marital infidelity is considered a taboo, it is considered as an accepted fact in the society that most men are susceptible in committing such act.
