Abstract/Summary
The objective of this study is to determine the factors that can affect the preference of individuals in buying a hybrid car. These factors were determined by using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS 14.0) and the data needed for the software to determine these factors were obtained by conducting a survey. The researchers also determined the effect of hybrid cars on the emission level and fuel economy. The data needed for the reduction in the emission level and fuel economy came from the results of the survey and some relevant information like: number of registered vehicles from LTO, emission level in Metro Manila, and how much hybrid costs in the US. This study hopes to help car companies and the government agencies concerned to know the characteristics of the people that would most likely buy a hybrid car, to promote a cleaner environment and better living.
Factors affecting the acceptability of hybrid cars in Metro Manila were established. These factors came up from the people's travel behaviors and individual characteristics e.g. If the person is planning to buy a car, when is the person planning to buy a new car, if the people have an idea what hybrid is, the amount the people are willing to spend in purchasing a hybrid, and if the people have an idea about the benefits of hybrid cars.
