Abstract/Summary

The main purpose of this qualitative study is to identify why fans follow Willie Revillame and how they see Willie Revillame. The study attempts to connect the final results of the study to the Social Psychology concept of persuasion and the Sikolohiyang Pilipino concept of Kagandahang loob under the general concept of Kapwa to explore why fans are attracted to Willie Revillame and how they see Willie Revillame. Focus group discussion and content analysis were utilized to gather data and information on how fans perceive Revillame. Target sample of participants is limited to those who qualify as fans of Revillame through a screening process developed by the researchers. The study does not aim to conclude that the social Psychology and Sikolohiyang Pilipino concepts used are the reasons for the fan base of Revillame but suggest that these may be contributing factors to Willie Revillame's having a cult following in the Filipino context.
