Abstract/Summary
The Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) is a social development organization of De La Salle University-Manila (DLSU) that caters to the La Sallian mission of producing Christian achievers for God and country. COSCA is challenged to present a new process called the La Sallian Reflection Framework (LRF). It aims to develop Lasallian values and principles which will help them apply it into real life setting. Based on a communication audit, there is no standardized message about the LRF program that facilitators can use, resulting to the intended messages not parallel to what is conveyed. These intended messages are (1) LRF is a step-by-step process modified to fit Lasallian values, (2) experience is a must to fully comprehend, (3) apply LRF in daily life decisions, (4) trainees should tailor fit LRF messages depending on their audience, and (5) it is based on the See-Judge-Act framework coined by Cardinal Joseph Cardijn that St. La Salle followed. But then the conveyed messages were: 1) St. John Baptist de La Salle created this framework, (2) it is only a problem-solving process, and (3) anyone can start or skip any of the stages. The researchers used Transformative Learning (TL) theory since it closely resembles to the process of LRF. To address this organizational communication problem, a training manual for the facilitators of the LRF program was developed to equip them in preparing, executing and evaluating each training session. It contains helpful information about the LRF, the art of facilitation, schedule, conducting and evaluating the training session. It was implemented three times to ensure its suitability and assure that the identified communication problem was eradicated. Certain revisions were made after each pilot test to incorporate the needs identified through the researchers evaluation. It was discovered that a training manual can be used as a standard material in communicating important messages to the trainees which will reduce the risk of miscommunication.
