Abstract/Summary
Putong is a video documentary presented in VHS format running for approximately 39 minutes. An indigenous ritual in Marinduque, Putong is held to celebrate birthdays and welcome visitors. In the town of Buenavista, a Putong contest was held last summer, which aims to preserve this cultural tradition from virtual extinction. However, neighboring towns shared various reactions regarding their method of preservation (eg. the possibility of taking away the ritual's original form).
