Abstract/Summary
Previous literature showed that there had been an increase in the number of working OFWS in the past 2 decades. This study aimed to explore on the adolescent children's (aged 12-18) perspectives regarding on the perceived gender roles and their care expectations from their parents. One on one semi-structured interviews were conducted and thematic analyses was used inorder to analyze and interpret the findings. the following themes were identified: (1) Preference for traditional parenting roles the underlying sub themes were Mothers associated with housework and childcare, Gender roles of males and fathers are associated with work and security, and Father as main provider, (2) Tolerance for role reversal, (3) Building intimate Parent-child relationship there underlying subthemes were use of technology to communicate, and open sharing one's thoughts and feelings, and (4) Establishmet of relationships.
