Abstract/Summary
Numerous studies by Zuckerman intensively examined thrill seeking as a trait. This inspired the study but nevertheless, centered on thrill seeking and how rescuers perceive it as a positive and negative effect. With a qualitative research design, 20 rescuers from various areas in Metro manila, Philippines having a range of 2 years in minimum to a maximum of 21 years in active service participated in a semi-structured interview that were later examined through content analysis. Results were categorized in themes and 5 of it appeared to be positive, namely: helping others, gaining experience, learning to respond to the unknown, adrenaline rush and challenge. 1 theme however, resulted to the perception of negative effect, which is danger. From what the present researchers found out from the rescuers perception, thrill seeking accentuated on being a positive effect than a negative one.
