Abstract/Summary

Infidelity especially in marriage is probably one of the most traumatic experiences an individual will undergo. The objective of the present study was to investigate the relationship of parenting styles and attachment styles that actually predicts marital infidelity. A total of 159 participants, 58.5% females and 41.5 males, agreed to complete the questionnaires. The instruments that were used for the present study were Parenting Style Questionnaire, Adult Attachment Sale, and Attitudes toward Infidelity Scale. The result from analyzing the data set using multiple regression analysis showed that Attachment styles, Avoidant, Anxious, and Secure, appear to be significant predictors of infidelity. However, Secure attachment style is lowly correlated with infidelity.
