Abstract/Summary

Trustworthy Computing is a term coined by Bill Gates, which refers to the environment in which systems, software, and information resources are insulated from unintentional unauthorized access, manipulation and destruction. Determining the qualitative factors of Trustworthy Computing and the difference between the perspective of online business and its customers in Metro Manila is a relatively new study. This study aims to know the factors as to why the respondents chose electronic commerce as a form of transacting the factors as to why the respondents chose electronic commerce as a form of transacting with various businesses. Several factors are observed in establishing this concept. As such, four factors were formulated from different Trustworthy Computing frameworks namely, Resource Availability, Privacy Policy, User-friendliness and Systems Reliability. The results were drawn from the survey questionnaire that was distributed to the online companies and customers and consequently, the views of the companies and their customers in terms of their importance. Mann-Whitney U Test was used to determine if there is a significant difference between the two parties. The results showed that the business and their customers have different the two parties. The results showed that the business and their customers have different views about Resource Availability and Privacy Policy. Overall, there is no significant difference between the perspective of the companies and its customers.
