Abstract/Summary
This study was designed to better understand a particular kind of gossip the experimenter's agreed upon- which would refer to the nature of the information being presented - and how it affects the phenomenon that occurs in the formation of an individual's overall impression. The experimenters tested whether the intensity of gossip - high or low - or its absence will or will not affect one's impression and how it could affect. In this experiment, 72 undergraduate participants were asked to partake in an experiment wherein they would be randomly assigned into 3 groups namely: high gossip, low gossip, and the control group. The result of our quantitative approach has proved to be not significant on the 7 traits on impression formation whereas our qualitative approach has suggested that the gossip did affect the participant's impression formation.
