Abstract/Summary

This research will aim to design and implement a SNS application targeting the art enthusiast community. The application will make use of social groups for better categorization, better sharing, better collaboration, and better promotion. The main goal of the site is to help users make their art popular. Social networking sites are applications that allow users to interact with other users and build a network of friends within the site. An online community site builds a community of users and links people with other people sharing the same interest. Unlike forum or blog applications that most existing online communities use, social networking applications provides its users with features that help them build relationships with other people. Presently, SNS applications cater to a broad community thereby making it difficult for people to find other people that share the same interest and lack specific features that cater to the needs of a specific community by themselves, like the art enthusiasts community. DeviantArt, an online community site for art enthusiasts, is the closest site similar to this system. But DeviantArt is mainly designed as an online art exhibit where users can post their artwork and other people can view it. The community is divided into categories that are predetermined by the administrators of the site which results in static categories. Also, the site focuses on the artworks of the user and not the user. This research will design and implement a SNS Application targeting the art enthusiast community that will allow them to create, share, collaborate and promote artwork.
