Abstract/Summary

This research introduces a custom made system infrastructure entitled LocKey which provides a layer of security considering the possible issues that may emerge in the University elections. A review on the relevant technologies, processes, and security standards in relation to an election was done to determine the applicable modules for a generic Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) architecture. LocKey PKI is an infrastructure composed of manual and automated approaches that handle step-by-step processes of PKI architecture. It will implement security measures such as RSA algorithm and hashing function for secure transmission of election data. The PKI has been thoroughly tested by conducting a unit test, usability test, penetration test and mock election. LocKey PKI had been integrated with the proposed election system designed for De La Salle University-Manila, which was employed during the 2012 frosh election.
