Abstract/Summary
There have been a number of studies done on the experience of athletes due to injury when it comes to physical, mental, and psychological change however the purpose of this study is to determine the overall experience of athletes due to career-ending injury, with an emphasis on the athletes identity, social support, and career planning. The study analyzes these experiences through an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis by first interviewing respondents then analyzing the data afterwards. It was found that the experience of the athlete both have positive and negative effects after the injury. The results of the study shed light on the athletes experience and how these experiences help them as a person.
