Abstract/Summary
The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between work-life balance (WLB) and its effect on Job Satisfaction of public accounts in public practice in the Philippines. A sample of 163 junior and senior associates of auditing firms in Makati, Philippines was considered for this study. Three other purposes were also covered in this study, namely: (a) to identify determinants of WLB as well as key conceptual and empirical issues involved (b) to analyze possible significant effects in balancing of work and life o Job Satisfaction, and (c) to study differences in the perception of Job Satisfaction and WLB according to various demographic variables. The respondents completed a survey comprising of the WLB and Job Descriptive Index scales modified to meet the data needed for this study. Both the Conservation of Resources and Herzberga's Motivation-Hygiene Theory were used as frameworks to examine the relationship of WLB and Job Satisfaction in sample of 163 respondents.
Results of this study showed that a significant positive relationship exists between WLB and Job Satisfaction of public accounts in public practice in the Philippines. This shows that the dimensions of WLB, Work Interference with Personal Life, Personal Life Interference with Work, Work Enhancement with Personal Life, and Personal Life Enhancement with Work, are necessary factors that could affect Overall Job Satisfaction of the said respondents.
