Abstract/Summary
The purpose of this qualitative research is to explore more about the comedians who are being used as instruments to create an entertaining atmosphere-their self-perception and how the disparaging jokes that they receive influence how they view themselves. A total of nine participants were interviewed. Results were analyzed through content analysis and found out that the comedians generally have a positive view of themselves. Furthermore, the disparaging jokes they receive do not at all influence their self-perception. However, the researchers were able to generate additional information wherein disparaging jokes are of influence on the comedian's behavioral responses instead.
