Abstract/Summary
The design aids were developed using the Microsoft Excel program. It was used in computing for the values of the tables and plotting the charts. The Allowable Stress Design Manual (ASD) was used as a guide in developing the format of the tables and charts.
The provisions of the National Structural Code of The Philippines (NSCP, vol. 1 4th ed.) on stresses for structural lumber and the properties of Philippine timber were used to compute for the modification factors.
The design aid was developed to eliminate the tedious practice of repetitive manual computation in the design of Philippine timber structures. The user's manual of the thesis guides the users on the proper use and limitations of the tables and charts. The design aids will be very useful to students and practicing civil engineers in designing timber members.
