Abstract/Summary
A number of researchers have studied casual sex but we have yet to find a study that relates casual sex and self-esteem issues. Also, this study wanted to show what young people think about casual sex nowadays across different genders heterosexuals and homosexuals. Moreover, we wanted to list down the different self-esteem issues associated with engaging in casual sex and categorized them as high or low self-esteem. Mainly, the common themes that emerged for young people are (1) For sexual satisfaction and (2) No romantic feelings.
For self-esteem issues the following what came up for both high and low self-esteem High self-esteem: (1) overconfidence, (2) impulsive, (3) blind to their own faults and (4) boastful Low self-esteem: (1) lack of confidence, (2) poor relationship skills and (3) hypersensitive. It can be seen that casual sex and self-esteem issues somehow relate to each other since the participants for both high and low differ on their perspective of what casual sex is. And also data was further grouped by their similarities, differences and specific patterns found.
