Abstract/Summary
Flood have been and will always be a problem to an environment, whether small or large. Just like Metro Manila, the problem exists before the settlement of people, and it had grown. However, the question lies on how to allocate the space for storage of flood. As a solution to the question, detention basin using the natural landscape is proposed. As against the conventional hydraulic flood control structures, the detention basin described in this investigation shall avoid as much structural components as possible. So that the cost of constructing a flood control measure is not increasingly high, at the same time, showing significant reduction of flood damage by delaying peak flood occurrence and reducing the peak flood.
