Abstract/Executive Summary
Task allocation discrepancy in employees job description has become a critical concern in modern workplaces, particularly when it is linked in the management’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). In response to that, this study explored how employees perceive the effects of the occurrence of task allocation discrepancy on workplace productivity as this aimed to explore the reasons and the effects behind these occurring issues in order to address these gaps and generate solutions, by focusing on key themes such as adaptability, workplace acknowledgment, skill development opportunities, and work motivation. Through the use of phenomenological research design, the study employed open-ended surveys to explore the lived experiences of the selected employees at particular cooperatives in Valenzuela City. By employing purposive sampling, 7 out of 10 participants were selected as eligible to answer the provided survey questionnaires. Findings suggest that while some of the employees develop adaptability and acquire new skills, others reduce their efficiency and focus due to unclear role expectations. Furthermore, the study identifies a research gap in understanding the correlation between job mismatches and workplace culture, it emphasized the need for further investigation into how organizational values and norms affect employee adaptability, job satisfaction, and overall efficiency. Additionally, the study recommends that organizations must regularly update the job descriptions of the employee to match the actual tasks and responsibilities in their job description and management’s KPIs and have strategic interventions, including employee empowerment, goal alignment, additional workforce allocation, and self-improvement initiative to enhance job-role clarity and improve overall workplace efficiency.
