Corallum creeping on dead coral of the same kind; its edge about 2 mm thick, closely hugging surface of substratum; 8.5 cm at its broadest diameter.
Corallites quite variable – some flush with surface, others projecting up to 2 mm; diameter ranging to more than 2 mm on elevations of the surface where they are usually oval.
Septa 18-20. In big calices, septa moderately thick, surface spinulate; edge entire or indistinctly granulate; sometimes thicker, sometimes thinner than intervening interseptal loculi; sloping gradually to about half radius points then falling almost vertically to bottom of funnel-shaped fossa.
Columella very variable. Some big calices do not have columella so that septa from opposite sides almost meet at bottom of fossa. Some have 1-3 tubercles standing from columellar foss; still others have very prominent, thick lamellae with granulous surface.
Intercalicinal areas consisting of a close reticulum, the threads bearing fine, low spines, not abundant enough to obscure the pits.
