Montipora rubra
(Studer, 1879)
Corallum a small cluster of subcylindrical stems and branches, the living portion 6-7 cm high; dichotomously branching; branches 6-7 mm diameter; most somewhat sinuous; coalescent. Branchlets slightly tapering but with round tips. Calicles small, 0.5 mm diameter, aperture irregular in shape; over one diameter distant. Those on lower portion usually with heavy ring around calice; on upper portion, ring not discernible.
Septa thin, very narrow, pointed, often asymmetrical. Secondaries often incomplete.
Intercalicinal reticulum appears almost compact with very small meshes on lower portion, more open on upper portion. Echinules various sizes, shaggy.
