Corallum hemispherical, encrusting on dead portion of colony; its edge closely adherent, distinctly epithecate.
Corallites large, open, conspicuously unequal in size, ranging from 6 to 12 mm diameter; relatively shallow, up to 4 mm; polygonal but with varying number of sides. Wall thin, less than 1 mm, ridged.
Septa even in height along wall, as thick as interseptal loculi; up to 46 in large calice, 18 reaching columella; slightly but evenly exsert over wall; edges uniformly serrate, the teeth oftentimes subdivided; septal surface laxly denticulate. Paliform lobes broadly lamellate, separated from corresponding septa by deep notches at same level in all septa so distinct groove surrounds palar crown; border coarsely dentate, teeth very much more conspicuous than those on upper portion of septa.
Columella small, less than a fifth the calicinal diameter, spongy, composed of fine, septal trabeculae.
