Abstract/Executive Summary
Abstract: Having entrepreneurial intention or a desire to take part in entrepreneurial activities, has been recognized as an essential trait in today’s competitive labor market. This research aims to measure students' entrepreneurial intention, identify the challenges they faced in developing it, determine the extent of coping strategies they employed, and examine the relationships among these three variables among the Grade 11 and Grade 12 students at the University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS). Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational design, data was gathered through a survey questionnaire answered by 196 UBSHS students. Results show students demonstrated a high level of entrepreneurial intention (M = 2.57), a high level of challenges (M = 2.53), and a low extent of coping strategy use (M = 2.42). Correlation analysis presented challenges that had no significant relationship with entrepreneurial intention (r = 0.07, p = 0.347), indicating that perceived barriers did not substantially reduce students' motivation to pursue entrepreneurship. Coping strategies, however, demonstrated a statistically significant positive relationship with entrepreneurial intention (r = 0.65, p = 0.0001), suggesting that students who employed effective support mechanisms were more likely to sustain entrepreneurial motivation. Challenges and coping strategies showed no significant relationship (r = 0.08, p = 0.277) meaning they are unrelated factors. Overall, these show the crucial role of coping strategies in fostering entrepreneurial intention among UBSHS senior high school students, suggesting that integrating structured entrepreneurship education and support mechanisms into the senior high school curriculum will strengthen students' entrepreneurial readiness.
