Abstract/Executive Summary
This study examined the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for emotional support among adolescents, focusing on its frequency of use, effects on emotional well-being, and impact on social interactions. A quantitative descriptive design was employed, involving 100 students from Benilde Senior High School aged 16–20. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and z-scores. Results indicate that adolescents use AI occasionally as a supplementary source of emotional support. While AI provides a safe environment for emotional expression and may enhance self-esteem for some users, reliance on AI negatively affects interpersonal communication and the quality of relationships. The study highlights that AI cannot replace human support systems, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach to emotional well-being. Practical implications include promoting digital literacy, guiding responsible AI usage, and designing AI platforms that encourage social engagement. Future research should explore diverse populations and employ qualitative methods to better understand the nuanced experiences of adolescents using AI for emotional support.
