An extended play (EP) that consists of three songs that protest against the “Golden Age” that has recently come back from the dead. The EP contains three songs articulating the political climate of the Philippines under the rule of the son of Ferdinand Marcos Sr., who was symbolized as the ferocious tiger, which is the sole reason why the EP is entitled “Roaring ‘20s”. Literature, processes, and artwork where analyzed through a post-colonial lens. The researcher used genre mashups that included pop and rock for its art production procedure and its implication in postcolonialism. Additionally, this research aims to understand the emotions in pop and rock protest music and the viewpoints of the youth, and the artists that produced these kinds of music during the 2020s. Lastly, thematic analyses were done based on the in 2020s pop and rock protest songs, and a interview based on the musical experiences and perspectives participants’ have on protest music and the political state of the Philippines. The data shows that pop and rock protest music evokes emotions the most, as compared to other descriptors of musical experiences, which may be due to the events that have happened in the 2020s, and the effect of protest music in general.
