The De La Salle Philippines (DLSP) Library Commission and the PLAI Negros Island Region Librarians Council are inviting librarians and library staff from DLSP and Visayas to submit paper proposals for presentation at the 5th DLSP Librarians' Conference. The conference will be held onsite at the Cody Conference Hall, University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City on 26-28 June 2024, and is open to the public.
This Conference is a venue for librarians and library staff from DLSP and Visayas to share their research studies, learn best practices from among libraries, tap collaborations for interdisciplinary engagements, discover new possibilities, and contribute to the knowledge capital of the Library and Information Science (LIS) field and its related fields of study.
This year’s conference theme is Unbound and Unstoppable Libraries: Reimagining Access, Embracing Innovation. It highlights the boundless capabilities that academic libraries possess amidst the globalized higher education and digital era. The conference aims to explore two key areas: (1) leveraging technological advancements to innovate library services and enhance the user experience; and, (2) exploring novel approaches to ensure equitable access to resources for library patrons, including international students and faculty. The conference will cover a wide range of topics, such as the development of library services, digital transformation, fostering partnerships and collaboration, ensuring diversity, inclusion, and equity, utilizing data and analytics, and the future of libraries in a landscape that is undergoing rapid change.
The Commission is interested in papers that contribute to the following topics along the theme:
Libraries as centers for social connection, learning, and community engagement
- Creating welcoming and inclusive spaces
- Programming for lifelong learning and skill development
- Partnering with community organizations
- Supporting entrepreneurship and innovation
Libraries as champions of equity and access
- Digital inclusion initiatives
- Combating disinformation and promoting media literacy
- Advocating for open access and intellectual freedom
- Collaborating with communities to address information needs
Libraries as incubators for innovation and expression
- Makerspaces and innovative technologies in libraries
- Programming for artists, writers, and entrepreneurs
- Supporting community innovation and creative projects
- Partnering with cultural institutions and organizations
Libraries on the global stage
- Sharing best practices and resources across borders
- Supporting international development and information access
- Promoting cultural understanding and knowledge exchange
- Addressing global issues like misinformation and digital divide
The ethics of information
- Data privacy regulations and user expectations
- Ethical implications of AI in libraries and information services
- Balancing access and privacy in the digital age
- Promoting responsible and ethical information practices
Sustainability and libraries
- Green library initiatives and resource conservation

- Papers submitted to this conference are not exclusive to DLSP, thus, may still be submitted to other research dissemination conferences.
- Submitted abstracts shall undergo a blind peer-review process to conceal the authors’ identity from reviewers.
- Upon receipt of notification of abstract acceptance with review, authors shall be given time to incorporate revisions to complete his/her full paper.
- Authors must submit a full paper with his/her presentation slides on or before 07 June 2024.
- Authors are required to follow the Instructions for Authors to be considered for acceptance.
- Submit a 700-1000-word count abstract, strictly adhering to this structure (all should appear):
- Introduction/research problem
- Research questions
- Research objectives
- Methodology (design, approach)
- Findings and discussion (expected results)
- Conclusion and recommendations (if available)
- Research limitations
- Practical implications/value of the paper
- Include keywords (3-6)

Authors of accepted papers for conference presentation shall receive a certificate of paper presentation, and a modest honorarium per presented paper.
