Abstract/Summary

This study investigates the interrelationships among job satisfaction, commute-related stress, and workplace anxiety within the context of the Philippine workforce, with a particular emphasis on potential mediating factors relevant to psychological health. Employing a quantitative predictive-correlational design, the research involved a sample of 146 participants recruited through convenience and purposive sampling methods. Data analysis utilized Preacher and Hayes' methodology alongside bootstrapping procedures to ensure statistical robustness. Assessment tools included the Commuting Stress Scale, the Job Satisfaction Survey, and the Job Anxiety Scale, which were systematically administered to evaluate key psychological constructs. Results indicated a significant negative correlation between job satisfaction and commute-related stress, highlighting the detrimental effects of workplace anxiety on overall employment satisfaction. Interestingly, the analysis revealed no substantial relationship between workplace anxiety and commuting stress. However, a slight negative correlation was noted between job satisfaction and workplace anxiety, indicating that while commuting stress directly undermines employee satisfaction, workplace anxiety does not significantly intensify this relationship. These findings have important implications for clinical practice in occupational health psychology, underscoring the need for strategies aimed at mitigating commute-related stress. Interventions designed to address these stressors could be vital for enhancing employee mental well-being and overall job satisfaction, contributing to improved workplace environments and reducing the psychological burden on employees.
