Abstract/Summary
With the small percentage of PWDs in the country, the Deaf are often unnoticed and recognized only after making themselves known to the public. Society has focused on creating facilities and services that mainly cater to people without disabilities, including in the digital world. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the development of programs and projects that overlook the specific needs and concerns of the Deaf community. With that in mind, this project sought to create a website in collaboration with the Deaf. Extensive interviews and collaboration with the participants/collaborators were done to ensure the website’s authenticity. This participatory approach of involving Deaf individuals in the whole process can ensure that the design better aligns with their vision of understanding and respecting the Deaf community. The website would feature insights and artworks made by the Deaf collaborators to show others a glimpse into their life, experience, and culture and show that being deaf does not put a restriction on their capability to do anything.
