Abstract/Summary
Fast fashion had emerged as a significant concern in society, with popular brands like SHEIN, H&M, and Uniqlo falling into the category of fast fashion retailers. This industry gave rise to numerous issues, including labor exploitation, ongoing cases of design plagiarism, and severe environmental challenges. Our project, Unveil, was a mockumentary that explored the consequences of fast fashion and its intersection with influencer culture. It served as a lesson, highlighting how influencers rapidly succumbed to trends, fame, and monetary gains to remain relevant. The mockumentary shed light on their reliance on fast fashion due to its affordability and trendy designs, while also delving into the extensive effects of overconsumption by examining the specific consequences of this industry. The mockumentary also addressed potential solutions to the issue of fast fashion by advocating for ethical consumption practices. Throughout the narrative, the documentary team guided the influencer toward embracing a slower and more responsible approach to fashion. By the end, the influencer gained insight into the world of conscious fashion choices and the importance of mindful consumption. To ensure the project's content's authenticity, interviews were conducted with actual influencers, sustainable shop owners, and fast fashion consumers to gain insights. It also incorporated abundant behind-the-scenes footage, showcasing the documentary crew and their equipment in action, reinforcing its mockumentary style.
To preserve the film's authenticity and raw feel, the group employed hand-held camera techniques. The film's production involved a combination of in-person shoots and online interviews. MP4 Format.
