Abstract/Summary
Coming from a troubled household and being abused by his father throughout his childhood, Stephen is kicked out of his home for being gay. He then finds solace in the arms of his long-term best friend, Gerik, who then helps him find a place to stay. Mico is desperate for a roommate, which leads Stephen to stay with him in a roommate situation. Mico and Stephen start hanging out, with Stephen taking Mico to his favorite spot in the city, and it is revealed that Justine, Mico’s girlfriend, broke up with him, and that Stephen has been in love with his best friend for nine years. Things start to rise between Mico and Stephen when Stephen starts dating Enzo out of jealousy, who Mico is wary of. Worrying for Stephen, Mico expresses his disdain for Enzo, and they get into a huge fight. Later on, it is revealed that Enzo was using Stephen to get a promotion at work, which leaves him stranded at a café after finding Mico and Justine in Stephen’s favorite spot in the city. Mico confesses his love for Stephen when he picks him up from the café in the middle of the rain, and the next day, Gerik confesses to Stephen that he broke up with his boyfriend for him. In a confused state, Stephen asks his father to meet him at his mother’s grave, to talk things out and finally gain closure from his father’s abuse, and to realize that all he needed was himself. In the end, Stephen rejects both suitors, opting to be alone until he is ready to love again, completely and fully, choosing himself above all else.
