Abstract/Summary

A former student activist and political prisoner during Martial Law, Ernesto Bernal recalls simple stories of his life decades ago and the troubling environment of Manila. Now he’s in his 70’s, living through his everyday mundane routine like walking along his old alma mater and long stepped out of commitments as an activist.

This multimedia mini-documentary was produced and edited for about a year. The first few months were focused on online interviews, which helped mold the documentary’s narrative. When COVID protocols started to ease, I took about 3 weeks to photograph and video some of his daily routine, and days wherein he would visit with me and my family.
