Abstract/Summary
It's The Nutshack is a web-based documentary about "The Nutshack", the first Filipino Animated TV show aired in the United States, and how it amassed a dogmatic group of online haters due to the rise of "meme culture". It follows the television show's origins as one of the first television programs created to cater to a Filipino-American audience in the early 2000s, its unexpected infamy in 2015 due to the rise of meme culture, and the revival of interest for the show during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic on TikTok due to teenagers and young adults feeling nostalgic for meme culture in 2015. The proponents also interviewed 20 Filipinos to gather how Filipinos now perceive the show, and to determine whether or not the online infamy is warranted.
/="/">The project is a hybrid production - consisting of graphics and assets that were created from digital software, a collection of interviews that were shot through calling applications, as well as in person footage shot when quarantine restrictions were lifted
