Abstract/Summary

Dealing with road traffic problem tells so much about a nation since traffic is now a common problem to any modern city nowadays. Good transportation system is a necessity in nation building. Improvement to condition of major road gives rise to a booming economy. Efficient transport of goods and people promotes productivity and convenience. Today in Metro Manila, this problem poses a threat to development. It hampers productivity among different industries as it now causes delays and losses. The use of modern technology in aid of transportation is the new trend. The integration of technology and transportation in the realm of computing open the door to the development of modern techniques of resolving road traffic. This study is in conjunction with the Department of Science and Technology. The research has several activities which includes transportation survey, development of computer vision system and using artificial intelligence system in creating a solution. The major objective of this research is to create an intelligent trip scheduling system of public utility buses. Dispatching of buses will be in accordance to passenger demand and traffic condition on the road. Headway from transportation survey tells the congestion level. Demand of passengers is determined by the people counting system developed using the LabVIEW platform.
