Abstract/Summary

The research is a system that organizes a music collection using Self-Organizing Map and the collection is represented in 3D form. The Self-Organizing Map performs a semi-structured organization in such a way that predefined group of songs will be consistently positioned in the 3D map. A 3x3x3 cube is utilized for the visualization of the 3D map and each sub-cube corresponds to a group of songs. Selecting a sub-cube can play preview songs of the cluster, play all the songs in the cluster, or scatter the group of songs in 3D space for a more refined selection. To browse through the collection, desktop interface consisting of screen, mouse and keyboard is provided. Additionally, gamepad interface and audio cues are available for visually-disabled users.
