Abstract/Summary

The study was primarily aimed at probing and exploring the conceptual understanding of students on force. It tried to identify the common conception of selected senior students coming from Bohol (Region VII). The respondents were Katipunan National High School (Carmen, Bohol) Dagohoy National High School (Dagohoy, Bohol) and Carlos P. Garcia National High School (Bien Unodo, Bohol) The instrument used, was the 25-item open-ended Force Concept Inventory adapted by the NTME-PHY DepEd NEAP scholars SY 2003-2004 originally developed by by Hestenes, et al (1992). There were 150 respondents comprised of 57 males and 93 females. The data gathered from the responses given by the students in the open-ended questionnaire on force were analyzed and interpreted using MS Excel. Interview was conducted to supplement the data gathered from the written responses so as to probe deeper into the conceptual understanding of the respondents.
