Abstract/Summary

This study aimed at assessing the human resource management practices of selected income-generating institutions servicing the AFP in terms of their attracting, developing and maintaining a quality workforce practices. Nineteen income-generating institutions composed of five savings and loan associations, eleven cooperatives and three other institutions were chosen as respondents. Being descriptive, the study presented the characteristics of the selected income-generating institutions servicing the AFP and the relationship of these characteristics to the institutions attracting, developing and maintaining a quality workforce practices. The ANOVA was used to determine the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. A four-block questionnaire (adopted from the Survey Questionnaire of Edralin (1996) entitled Human Resource Management Practices of Small, Medium and Large Enterprises in Metro Manila Part 2) pertaining to the institutions characteristics and their attracting, developing and maintaining a quality workforce practices was used. The study found out that there were significant differences in the attracting and developing a quality workforce practices of the selected income-generating institutions servicing the AFP in terms of their nature of v De La Salle University business, years of operation, size of capitalization and size of employment but there were no significant differences in the attracting, developing and maintaining practices of the income-generating institutions in terms of their level of profit. Moreover, it was found out that significant differences only existed in the attracting and developing the quality workforce practices of the selected income-generating institutions servicing the AFP but not in their maintaining practices. In addition, it was found out that the nature of business, years of operation, size of capitalization and size of employment had an effect on the attracting and developing a quality workforce practices of the income generating institutions servicing the AFP but not in their maintaining practices. Their levels of profit did not significantly affect their attracting, developing and maintaining practices.
