Globe Telecom is one of the telecommunication companies in the Philippines that provides telecommunication services such as data communication, internet service provider, cellular communication, lease line communication and wireline telephone. The areas covered include the National Capital Region, Southern Tagalog and Central Mindanao. Not only does Globe Telecom provide national direct dialing, it also offers international direct dialing service. Voice Over Internet is the newest service offered by Globe Telecom, Inc. This service reduces the cost of long-distance communication. Upon installation and implementation of Voice Over Internet, it is found out the system is in good condition. The testing procedures for implementation are end-to-end business test, global clearinghouse test and the Y2K test. End-to-end business test is the test to know the connection condition of each subscriber in the Voice Over Internet service whereas Global Clearinghouse test is a test to know the connection condition with another system in the Global Clearinghouse Forum. Y2K test finds out the system condition for Year 2000 compliance. The practicum was done in Switch Data Service (SDS-Makati), one of the departments in Globe Telecom, Inc. that handles the data communication system. Duration of the practicum is more than 500 hours. There are many experiences and knowledge that can be obtained from the practicum activities.
