Abstract/Summary

This study reformulates the superintendent's office and develops an administrative manual for the Superintendent of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (DMHC).The descriptive-developmental design was utilized. A survey questionnaire was the main instrument distributed to three groups of respondents. These were the (a) six members of the Provincial Council, (b) 22 administrators composed of the Directress, the principals, and the (c) 120 faculty sisters and lay.The study employed frequencies and weighted item mean average to determine the extent of the actual and expected performance of the proposed reformulation of the superintendent's office of the DMHC. It also made use of a documentary analysis of the existing Superintendent Administrative Manual, and other congregational documents. The following conclusions were drawn:1. The reformulated superintendent office vision-mission, goals and objectives were aligned and congruent 2. In general, the superintendent's office functions were not different from other congregations', except for the educational system of St. John Bosco 3. The initial draft of the superintendent administrative manual formalized the office organizational relationship, job description, selection and appointment of personnel, specific duties and functions of all personnel and practices and,4. There was a need to implement an action plan for the institutionalization of the superintendent's office. It is recommended that:

1. The identified vision-mission, goal and objectives of the superintendent's office be incorporated in the superintendent's administrative manual and, 2. There should be a Congregation-wide dissemination of the proposed reformulation of the superintendent's office as well as the proposed superintendent's administrative manual.
