Abstract/Summary
The concept of social capital has been well-examined in the scholarly literature on community development. However, the role of faith-based organizations (FBOs) in building social capital is rarely studied. This dissertation fills a critical gap in our understanding of the role of the Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) as an FBO that harness social capital and foster community development.
