Abstract/Summary
Abstract. The theme of the researcher's photo essay is, Brown is Beautiful which is a slogan adaptation of the black is beautiful campaign of the African Americans in the '70s and '80s. It addresses a social issue concerning brown-skinned Filipino women who feel insecure due to their dark skin tone, which should not be so. Furthermore, it promotes an ideal change in attitude: to cease frowning upon brown complexion, to stop using skin whitening products... to take pride in one's natural skin color and national identity.
