Abstract

Paramount to the safety and efficiency of any surgical procedures warrants the enhancement of skills of the surgeon whether in training or practice. In minimally invasive surgery, one should inherently have excellent depth perception, consistent hand-eye coordination, and skillful use of the dominant and non-dominant hands to be able to perform operations with precision, efficiency, and safety. For most surgeons, sustaining or even improving these laparoscopic surgical skills through traditional drills would sometimes reach a point that it seems to be monotonous, and repetitive. Breaking away from the traditional skills will make the training and honing of minimally invasive surgical skills in a fun, innovative, nice, and enthusiastic way. This remarkable innovation of incorporating art in sustaining the training of one’s laparoscopic skills through various art methodology uniquely utilized by surgeons around the world. With these creative exercises, one will learn in an exciting and enthusiastic way how to improve minimally invasive surgical skills as a lifetime hobby at the same time have a concrete outcome in a form of a tangible product which is the artwork itself. After all, surgery is both an art and science.
