Abstract/Executive Summary

The rise of esports has transformed the entertainment scene, captivating gamers, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. As competitive esports cement their place in mainstream entertainment, understanding why and how esports have become what it is today is important. This research investigates the different motivational factors driving esports consumption in Metro Manila, Philippines. This study utilizes the MSES questionnaire to evaluate the primary motivational factors influencing esports engagement, providing preliminary insights into the impact of influential factors on consumer motivation in the rapidly growing esports market. The study explored the influential factors that affect esports consumption and spectatorship in Metro Manila, focusing on demographic and gaming factors associated with watching different popular games in the region. It was uncovered that factors related to Skill Appreciation, Skill Improvement, and Competition were primary drivers for users to watch esports
