Abstract/Executive Summary
In recent years, Fall Armyworm (FAW) reports have steadily increased in warmer regions of various continents, causing significant losses in the agricultural sector, especially in staple crops such as rice, corn, and sorghum. The pest species travels across warmer areas by riding wind currents and targeting crops. To combat FAW, farmers have developed and improved pesticide formulas and other control strategies, as the pest has shown resistance to many commercial pesticides used. However, FAW monitoring remains a challenge for the agricultural sector. With the agricultural nature of the Philippines, it is crucial to monitor the pest's spread behavior in order to be equipped with proper mitigation measures. Thus, this study aims to develop an accurate FAW risk map that can detect and visualize FAW infestations in specific areas in Tarlac by utilizing known FAW growth factors as parameters, namely temperature, type of loam soil, and crop presence and integrating them using the QGIS software. It was found that during the wet seasons, the risk of FAW infestation levels is moderate to zero risk. On the other hand, risk levels increased from moderate to high during the dry season. Since soil and temperature conditions influence the risk levels of different areas in Tarlac, it is important to have varying approaches that fit the different needs of the area rather than a uniform solution.
